Angers became the final Ligue 1 Conforama club to achieve back-to-back wins this season as they saw off Guingamp 3-0 to boost their survival prospects.

 Angers SCO 3-0 EA Guingamp

Moulin this week penned an extension through to 2020 and the Angers board have faith in a coach that has been at the club since 2011. The three points here lifted Angers four points clear of 19th-placed LOSC as Guingamp’s four-match unbeaten run came to an end.

Angers did the damage at either end of the match. Only 40 seconds were on the clock when Pierrick Capelle crossed from the right and Flavien Tait headed low past Kalle Johnsson. After that Angers were content to play on the counter and use Karl Toko Ekambi’s pace and Guingamp would have gone in level had Jordan Ikoko (40′) not headed wide from close range.

There was to be a grandstand finish as Guingamp fans got a glimpse of Clément Grenier’s ability from set-pieces. First the former OL man was narrowly off target with a free-kick from 21 metres (84′) and two minutes later he picked out Mustapha Diallo for a header that Ludovic Butelle saved. Christophe Kerbrat couldn’t net the follow up when the goalkeeper spilled the ball.

As Guingamp committed men forward they were picked off on the counter. Tait’s cross saw a mishit Lassana Coulibaly shot turn into an assist as Toko Ekambi stroked the ball home in the manner of a player enjoying the season of his life. In the fourth minute of added time Coulibaly enjoyed another assist as he flicked on a corner and captain Ismaël Traoré powered in a header.

THE PLAYER: Karl Toko Ekambi

The forward has now netted 14 times this season in Ligue 1 Conforama and has been involved in 15 of Angers’ last 20 goals, scoring 11 of them and providing four assists. The fact the 25-year-old didn’t join Brighton in the winter window could prove to be the difference between Angers staying up and going down.

This was only Angers’ fourth clean sheet of the season
