Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester all enquired about Manchester United’s Phil Jones this summer.
Jones has not played since January due to injury but United have told clubs throughout the transfer window that the he is going nowhere.
Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho did not want to strengthen Premier League title rivals with any potential loan deal for Jones.
The defender will look to force his way into Mourinho’s plans as he continues his injury comeback.
United signed Jones in the summer of 2011 for £16.5million from Blackburn Rovers but the 24-year-old has never truly established himself at Old Trafford.
Jones, who can play at centre half as well as right back, has suffered a host of injuries during his time in Manchester and has fallen behind Daley Blind, new signing Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling.
Bailly has been excellent in the embryonic stages of his Manchester United career, while Blind’s form has left Smalling on the bench.
United have turned down an approach from Inter Milan for 26-year-old Italian full back Matteo Darmian.
The Italian international joined the Red Devils from Torino last summer but has stern competition for the right-back slot in the form of Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Antonio Valencia.
