Chelsea fullback Marcos Alonso says they must not dwell on the negatives after a disappointing Champions League campaign.

Blues boss Antonio Conte felt frustrated that they suffered such a heavy defeat to Barcelona over the two legs, when they played well in patches, and will raise questions as to why they have underperformed this season.

But Alonso insists Chelsea must take the positives out of their European campaign.

He said: “We showed until the last minute that we can play against any team, and now we have eight finals and have to make sure we play in the Champions League next year.

“We showed great character, played good games, both in the second leg and in the first leg, and maybe the score is too much. But it’s fair because they put the ball in and we didn’t.
