France coach Didier Deschamps has signed a new contract that takes him through until the end of UEFA EURO 2020.
Due to announce his squad for friendlies against Wales and Germany on Thursday afternoon, Deschamps wanted his future sorted out ahead of next summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Le Graët: “Didier is the best”
French Football Federation president Noël Le Graët said: “The French team is progressing with Didier Deschamps. We reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 and the final of EURO 2016. I want to give him the opportunity of leading France in another World Cup and another EURO. For me, Didier is the best and nobody else comes close. He has succeeded perfectly well and works tremendously hard.”
Nabil Fekir and Anthony Martial are among those pushing for Les Bleus recalls when Deschamps announces his squad early on Thursday afternoon.
