Dutch coaching chief Han Berger feels Crystal Palace was the wrong club for Frank de Boer.

De Boer was sacked yesterday after just 77 days in charge.

“Disappointing that Frank was fired so quickly. I’m especially worried for his own career,” Berger told De Telegraaf.

“After the previous experience at Inter in Italy, this is not a good development.

“If there is one club where the kick and rush is locked in the DNA, then it’s Palace. And he had Sam Allardyce as a predecessor. The requirement to play other football without getting the players has been an extra pitfall. The risk was high beforehand.

“Frank is a fine guy, but this is a killer for his career.”
