UEFA Europa League, Round of 32

Groupama Stadium, Lyon

  Olympique Lyonnais 3 – 1 Villarreal CF

Nabil Fekir (Olympique Lyonnais forward): “It was important to go after this win. We played a good match overall. There are still things to correct, but we carved out a small advantage for the return leg, even though it’s not really enough. Over there, in front of their fans, it will be tough. But if we can play the same way we did tonight, if we can stick together, we can go there and secure a place in the next round.”

Javier Calleja (Villarreal CF coach): “This is a good result for Lyon, they showed plenty of punch and strength up front. We are disgusted by the result and we’ll do all we can to turn it around. I still trust the team, it’s difficult, but we’re going to give everything to turn it around. We will have to try to score early.”

Stade Vélodrome, Marseille

Olympique de Marseille 3 – 0 SC Braga

Rudi Garcia (Olympique de Marseille coach): “One thing is certain: we’re not qualified yet. We’ll need to go to Braga and score goals to win it. But we played a good match; we wanted to do it without conceding a goal and we did that. We could have scored a couple more but their ‘keeper had a big match and we were unlucky on a couple of occasions. But what counts is how we played and we had a good match.”

Abel Ferreira (SC Braga coach): “First of all, Marseille deserved their win. They were better than us. It will be tough in the return leg but not impossible. We would have to have en epic evening go in our favour, but we believe that everything is still possible, even if the task ahead looks complicated.”

Allianz Riviera, Nice

OGC Nice 2 – 3 FC Lokomotiv Moscow

Lucien Favre (OGC Nice coach): “We had an excellent first half. It could have been 3- or 4-0. But we didn’t take our chances. We lost possession at important moments and, against this team, you can’t do that. We made too many tactical errors and before we even think about the return leg, we have to make corrections.”

Yuri Semin (FC Lokomotiv Moscow coach): “You should never lose hope. My hat is off to the players who, after the mistakes of the first half, reacted well. Our substitutions at half-time made a big difference; things weren’t going well and I changed everything in terms of tactics. That’s how we got the win. We’re not qualified yet and Nice are a good team, very competent. We’ll do all we can to be in shape and clinch qualification in the return leg.”
