Olympique Lyonnais have completed the signing of France Under-21 star Martin Terrier from LOSC, although he will finish the season on loan at RC Strasbourg Alsace.
Lyon confirmed that they had paid Lille an initial fee of 11 million euros for Terrier, with the fee rising to a maximum of 15 million euros including bonuses. The 20-year-old forward has agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal which runs through to June 2022.
Terrier had already been on loan at Strasbourg from Lille since the beginning of this campaign and the Alsace said were determined to keep him at the Stade de la Meinau to see out the season. As a result he will not be seen in a Lyon shirt until 2018-19. He has scored three goals in 16 Ligue 1 Conforama appearances for Strasbourg this season.
“I discovered Martin Terrier last season at Lille and I have continued to follow him this season at Strasbourg, and especially with the Under-21s, for whom he has performed particularly well,” said Florian Maurice, in charge of recruitment at OL.
“He is a forward whose versatility is interesting and he has a rare footballing intelligence. Everything he does is spot-on. He is powerful, quick, comfortable technically and handy in front of goal.”
