Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to deal in Michael Carrick.
The Sun says United will hand Carrick a new one-year deal after the veteran’s performances convinced Jose Mourinho to keep him at Old Trafford.
The 35-year-old looked to be heading for the exit last summer following Mourinho’s arrival at the Theatre of Dreams but was kept on for another season.
And Carrick’s influence – as well as United’s lack of experienced leaders – means he will continue to wear the red jersey for another 12 months, with talks already underway over a 12-month contract.
Another player United are hoping to keep is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is also out of contract this summer.
But whether he signs a new deal remains to be seen, with the Swede revealing: “There are still talks and let’s see what will happen. I am open. Nothing is done yet.”
