Olympique de Marseille striker Kostas Mitroglou suffered a suspected thigh injury at the end of Tuesday’s training session.
The scorer of four goals in his last three matches in all competitions, the Greek international forward hurt himself in shooting practice at the end of the session. The 29-year-old is likely to be ruled out of Thursday’s UEFA Europa League round of 32 first leg against Braga.
OM coach Rudi Garcia is liable to divulge greater detail in Wednesday’s pre-match press conference. Should the injury be confirmed it will come as a major blow to the summer signing from Benfica who had got back on the goal trail thanks to one in the league against Metz followed by a hat-trick against Bourg-Péronnas in the Coupe de France.
OM’s attack has been led this season by winger Florian Thauvin, freshly elected January’s Ligue 1 Conforama player of the month.
