Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admits this season’s record hasn’t been good enough.

This morning, the whole section reserved for broadcast media lasted just over three minutes, half of which was spent answering a question about tomorrow’s game against Newcastle rather than the plight Manchester United find themselves in.

On potentially going five without a win for only the second time since 1998, Mourinho limited his response to two words when asked if he accepted it wasn’t good enough for a club of United’s stature: “I accept.”

Ahead of their clash with Newcastle, he later told MUTV: “[We have had] recovering time for the players that played against Valencia and good work for the others that obviously were in perfect condition to train.

“Today [Friday], the third day [since the Valencia game] is the first day we have all of the players together and three days in between matches is more than enough time to have the players ready for the weekend match.”
