Neymar Jr insisted he is at Paris Saint-Germain “to make history” after scoring twice in Saturday’s 4-0 win against Montpellier Hérault SC.

“I am calm, I am happy here with my friends and my team-mates,” the Brazilian superstar said, denying any suggestions that he might have been unsettled at the Parc des Princes having missed PSG’s previous two games.

“I cam here to make history, to give the best of myself and score lots of goals.”

Neymar’s brace included a penalty, scored after Edinson Cavani’s opener which allowed the Uruguayan to take his tally of goals for PSG to a club record 157.

The ex-Barcelona man added: “It was impossible not to know about Cavani’s record. The coach has chosen me as the penalty-taker and there is no problem with that. The coach has decided and I need to take responsibility.”
