The three French clubs in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32 have their next opponents in their sights following Monday afternoon’s draw.
Olympique Lyonnais, who made an impressive run to the competition’s semi-finals last season, were drawn against Villareal and will thus be up against Spanish opposition for a third season in a row after Valencia CF (UEFA Champions League group stage), Sevilla FC (UEFA Champions League group stage) in recent campaigns. The first leg will be played at the Groupama Stadium on Thursday, February 15, 2018.
Meanwhile Olympique de Marseille are set to do battle with SC Braga in their Round of 32 tie, with the opener at the Orange Vélodrome on February 15. The return leg will take place in Portugal a week later. OM and Braga are no strangers to each other, having faced off the Europa League group stage in season 2015-16.
OGC Nice will face Lokomotiv Moscow. Last season, the Aiglons were also up against Russian opposition, encountering Krasnodar in the Europa League group stage. Beaten in the first leg in Russia (2-5), the Niçois bounced back in the return leg (2-1). Lucien Favre’s side will play the first leg against Lokomotiv at home, with the return in Russia a week later.
