Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Alvaro Morata rejected the chance to join up with the Argentine two years ago as he was worried about the presence of Harry Kane.

The 45-year-old phoned Morata to explain the club’s project and to try and persuade him to add to their forward options, but he instead went to Spurs’ London rivals Chelsea two years later from Real Madrid.

“Why do you want me if you have Harry Kane?” Morata asked Pochettino, according to the coach in the Daily Mail.
