Liverpool’s transfer committee overruled Jurgen Klopp over his interest in Franck Ribery.
A free agent after coming off contract with Bayern Munich earlier this month, Ribery is eager to play on next season.
L’Equipe says Liverpool manager was keen to bring Ribery to England, having long been a fan. With a limited budget this summer, Klopp saw the chance for a bargain addition to boost his attacking options.
However, Klopp’s move for the veteran was blocked by Liverpool’s transfer chiefs given his age and personal demands.
Instead, Ribery could yet remain in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt keen.
